Manitou Springs Cliff Dwellings

Our daughter's pick for this trip was visiting the Manitou Cliff Dwellings.  They are not the most accessible attraction in the world, but they do a great job.  Wheelchair users get in free of charge and an employee will help spot you as you take your chair down the incline to the museum and gift shop.  I think they mentioned something about using a service elevator to get to the other floors, but I didn't try it.  The Cliff Dwellings themselves are not accessible (of course).  I don't imagine the Indians had wheelchairs to build around.  :)  I doubt they were considering such things as they built into the side of the mountain.  There was a ramp up to the Cliff Dwellings and the kiddos had a great time checking out the inside.   Our daughter was quite pleased with her Colorado pick and even more so when she spotted the merchandise tables and was able to do some serious shopping.

Asking the Wrong Question

"Jesus said, 'You're asking the wrong question.  You're looking for someone to blame.  There is no such cause-effect here.  Look instead for what God can do.  We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent us here, working while the sun shines.  When night falls, the workday is over.  For as long as I am in the world, there is plenty of light.  I am the world's Light."  John 9:3-5 (Message)

How often do we ask the wrong question?
How often are we looking for someone to blame?
What would happen if we stopped blaming others and started "looking for what God can do"?
What would happen if we stopped blaming and started truly loving each other?

Please comment.  I'd really like to start a discussion about this and I want to hear your thoughts.

Casa Bonita

A must stop place every time we visit Colorado is Casa Bonita in Denver.  It is a ton of fun and always very busy.  I've never experienced lines down the sidewalk (that I can remember), but it has happened to others visiting.  The system for getting through the line and getting your food is fairly effective.  However, it is crowded and not a great scenario for someone who is claustrophobic.  I was getting more and more nervous as people were crowding around.  Azure did great, but he was picking up on my nervousness and acting a little fidgety making sure I was OK.  I think we were both relieved when we got to a place in the line we could leave the crowds and wait in the waiting area.

The best part of Casa Bonita is not the food.  It is all the activity going on and all the places to explore.  It is fun to walk behind the waterfall and get to look out and watch the shows (cliff divers, pirates, gorilla, etc).  :) It is always great to be entertained while you are eating dinner and fun to walk around and check out shops, puppet shows, pinatas, etc. after dinner is over.  I think the best part is putting up your flag at your table for your waitress to continue bringing sopapillas, refills, etc.  :)  If you are lucky, you can get serenaded at your table by a mariachi band.  All in all, this is a must-stop on your Colorado vacation.

Focus on the Family

Our next stop on our Colorado Springs adventure took us to Focus on the Family.  If you've never made this stop a part of your trip to the Springs, I highly recommend it.  We did not tour the whole facility.  We only visited the bookstore and the kids area, but it was well worth our time.  We decided since Adventures in Odyssey is such a big part of our lives right now, it was a must see.  We were right.  http://angel-memoriesforgotten.blogspot.com/2012/09/adventures-in-odyssey-25th-birthday-bash.html
