Highest Form of Gratitude

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

Definition of Happiness

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

Place of Training and Correction

"If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place of training and correction and it's not so bad."
                                                                                                              C.S. Lewis

Everywhere I Look

Is it just me or when something enters your mind, is it everywhere you look?  I have felt impressed by God to study the concept of counting your blessings and giving thanks ever since I saw Ann  Voscamp talk about her book 1000 Gifts at the Women of Faith event this fall.  I have been making that an intentional part of my life since then.  I have been reading and studying things on gratitude and even plan to make that my platform for Ms. Wheelchair Kansas this year.  What I didn't expect was to see it everywhere.  I'm finding it in other readings I am doing and even in magazine articles from magazines I have read for years.  How did I miss this?  Has it always been there and I'm just now seeing it?  Or, is this a concept that everyone is discovering at this point?  Does this ever happen to you?  I know when you think about a certain color car for example, you start seeing it everywhere you go.

Thankful Heart

""The thankful heart sees the best part of every situation.  It sees problems and weaknesses as opportunities, struggle as refining tools, and sinners as saints in progress."

Decisions

"Today's decisions are tomorrow's realities.  Remember you have three choices: take it, leave it, or change it."                                          --Marsha Petrie Sue

I am not a big fan of New Year's Resolutions.  I don't believe in waiting until the first of the year to make necessary changes.  I believe in making changes no matter the time of year when you feel you need to make changes.  Today's decisions means every day of the year, not just New Year's.    That being said, there are some things I plan to do and it does happen to be New Year's Eve.  I'm so excited about the new LeadHer chapter starting in WaKeeney this month.  www.leadher.org  I am also preparing for the Ms. Wheelchair Kansas competition this year and my application is due next week. www.mswheelchairkansas.org

Also, many devotion books are set up to run a year, so every new year I figure out what new devotions will be in my life for next year.  Well, for 2013, I will be going through Jesus Calling but I also plan to do some in-depth Bible study based on what my heart needs to be studying throughout the year.  I would love to have all of you help me search the Scripture and just go in depth this year.  So, to keep myself motivated and accountable, I will be starting another blog.  I will continue this one with all my memories of all that is going on in my life, but I will be beginning a new one specifically for study of the Scripture.  Please join me in my studies this year and definitely comment and ask questions.  We can all search for answers together and you know, Jesus said, "And when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.” (Matthew 18:20 MSG) Although it is vital to spend time in quiet searching scripture, praying, and listening for what God wants to tell you, it can also be extremely helpful to study in community and share what God is saying to all of us.  It also helps keep us accountable for what we are learning.  So, join me in this adventure.  http://angel-searchingforthetruth.blogspot.com/
